The Diploma in Social Work embraces the inter-dependent interests of both the individual and society. It seeks to introduce students to the social contexts that create, contribute to and address challenges and resources for individual growth and community development. The program seeks to train students who will influence the responsiveness of organizations, communities and other social institutions to promoting social justice and social change.
To achieve these goals, the multi-level social work activities to be taught will include social development aspects (understanding human behaviours, group work, community work, administration, advocacy, social action, policy development, implementation, field inquiry and evaluation). Students will be trained to be sensitive to cultural diversity, and work to combat discrimination, oppression, poverty and other forms of social injustices.
