The School of Social Sciences at Uganda Christian University started as a department within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. It became a fully-fledged Faculty in 2004 with a variety of programmes at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels. Then in 2021, it has been granted the status of a school. At one time, the school was the second largest faculty at Uganda Christian University, though with time, this has been over taken by events.
With the goal to create a blend of enlightened professionals and leaders who will do their work with professional dedication and integrity to address the social and economic needs of the country from a Christian perspective, the School of Social Science’s students are encouraged to work hard. The students are mostly enrolled for full time programs at the main campus in Mukono and Kampala and others from Constituent Colleges at Bishop Barham University College-Kabale, Mbale, and Arua Campus.
To coordinate all these, the School of Social Sciences has two departments namely: Department of Research and Postgraduate Studies, and Department of Undergraduate Studies. Within these departments, there are coordination units for Postgraduate and Development, Governance and Public Administration, and Social Work.
To equip students with academic and social competencies through teaching, research, and mentoring for the transformation of their communities and beyond.
